Flip the Page

Flip the Page

A Poem by Alexa Tarvid
"

When we begin to look at our past, we have to make a choice.

"

Flip the page,

Pull the trigger,

This story is so depressing,

Tears and tears,

And all we have to show for it

is this bottomless pain,

Turn the page,

Her love is gone,

Will she stay?

Stay on such a desolate page?

Her wounds mark the corners,

Her sorrow blackens the cover,

Turn the page,

She has the knife,

The sun reflects off the blade,

She looks so pretty,

This one is illustrated,

Her hair blows in the wind,

Her heart spread across the ground,

Will her blood grace this floor?

Will it all be too much for her?

Other ways to help

But too tired to explore,

The knife feels so heavy in her hand,

Will this be the end of her story?

Turn the page,

Turn the page,

No.

This is not who I am,

I refuse for this to be my story,

Close the book,

Burn the pages,

I will not let such sorrow blacken my cover,

Burn the pages

Pick the pieces of my heart back up,

and start a new story,

One of hope and free of blades,

Pain will come,

Yes

But it will not mark the end,

And this one will start

With ashes of my past falling from the sky.

I love the imagery conveyed from the very first words!
Close the book, Burn the pages, I love this!!! Every closed book opens a new one!
With every end a new beginning.Well Done

This is beautiful. I absolutely love the way you've worded it, especially this part:
"Will this be the end of her story?

Turn the page,
Turn the page,

No."
It was a wonderful transition into the resolution of the poem. Wonderful job!!
