Pick It Up

Pick It Up

A Poem by Alexa Tarvid

Throw my hands up,
I give up!
You ask for me
And I answer,
But will you ever change?
Will the words sink in?

A foot tap,
Hands at my hips,
Another one!
She sleeps in your bed,
And you tangle her heart,
But you know its not,
You know she's not what God wants,

Once upon a time,
You had my heart,
But it doesn't mean anything,
Not one FREAKIN thing!
Because you give up that part of you
Oh so willingly,

A finger pointed
At the one so selfish,
You are happy for this moment,
But in weeks
She'll lay in ruin,

The words don't sink in,
Living like this
You'll never truly be happy,
You trade God for another girl,
And neither of you are getting any closer
To the joy you are searching for,

So pick it up,
Pick it up again,
Your shovel that is aiding you
In digging your heart's grave,

You ask but you do not listen,
You entangle yourself once more,
How long will it be until you face conviction
And leave this one with a broken heart?

You do not listen,
But the price is just not yours to pay,
To claim you love God,
And take these girls up
Into your arms,

They are looking for a savior,
And they see you as Prince Charming,
But you are more of a wreck than they are,
But for tonight you are happy,
And the price you both pay is so much bigger,

Another one!
Another one...
She sleeps in your bed,
And you tangle her heart,
But you know its not,
You know they aren't what God wants.
