You

You

A Poem by Alexa Tarvid

Hello You,
I know You,
I have been trying
so very hard
to get rid of You,

But here he comes,
Getting You to jump up and down,
We recognize him,
Different face
Different shape,
With a similar heart
That you will break,

But there He is,
A different man altogether,
A man unlike all the others,
Wha-what?
What are You doing?!?
Running away
And pulling me with You!

Because He scares us doesn't he?
Is it the possibility
That His rejection would hurt more
Than the first pursuer,
Ah see he won't hurt You,
You will dance the same dance
We have been dancing for years,
And end in the same loneliness
You and I both know.
