Sisters

Sisters

A Poem by Gabrielle E. Flinn
"

Sometimes it just hurts to have one...

"
When her boyfriend makes her sad, you get furious
When her boyfriend makes her angry, you get delirious
You feel protective of her well-being
Whoever makes her feel anything but happy, people worry about their well-being.
If she is happy, you're happy,
You love her and you know she loves you,
But knowing one day she'll leave you brings tears to your eyes.
You'll never tell her how you don't want her to leave,
It is her life.
You settle for a joking comment instead of your usual serious demeanor.
When she cries because your parents are being way too controlling,
You somehow get impossibly mad at your parents.
When she gets mad at you,
You get a deep and sorrowful pain in your chest.
Maybe it's because you love her.
Maybe it's because you want to fight before she leaves you.
Maybe it's because you are her sister.
When she walks out that door with her items packed,
Leaving you to a room all yourself, "You should be happy," she joked.
How could you be happy?
Your best friend just left.
Who knows when you'll see her again...
