Island Queen

Island Queen

A Poem by Quaint Lil Lady
"

Appreciating my multiracial attributes

"
For so long she attempted to be fused
To an illusion that her innocence amused.
An amazing creature with a fragrance of youth,
Yet tortured by her divergent attributes.

Her hair is curly, and a soft golden brown hue,
But she yearns for the straight coiffure.
Her skin, she wishes an ivory blanket.
But her reality a coat of earthy gold.

A body showcased with symmetry
And warped with curves of ambient infinity-
Hers a shadow of the island she hails from;
Hills, mountains, ravines, valleys, and captivating shores.

Her face is round, the beauty of her races,
Coalesced into one with her ancestor's semblances.
Yet she craved the visages that are so identically similar,
Molded and carved by others with really no character.

Young girl, ivory, ebony, golden, dappled, milky,
Of all shades that the eye perceives,
You are beautiful, chosen.
Do not sit and cry, do not be so sullen.

Your heart is true while your face portrays this.
Stay vivid in your mind and be courageous.
Your beauty is unique and modest,
Because being naked is a matter identical to all of us.

If only you saw how magical you are,
Without the putting on of a visually pleasing facade
Visible and welcomed only by the falsehoods of society;
A mindless creature with no singularity-

You'd realize the true damage to your psychology.
Accept your virtues, semblance and charming rapport with humanity.
And love yourself,
For you are a queen, in and of this word itself.

This is absolutely stunning! Someone somewhere,(myself included) needed to read this today! Thank you so much for that! So beautifully written as well! Tis better to love ourselves for who we are than to sit, and think badly of ourselves for what we are not.

Lovely read, it really resonated with me. Speaks to my insecurities and really puts me face to face with them, to question - when did i stop loving me? Thoroughly felt and thoroughly appreciated. I needed to read this so thank you. :)

You wrote a beautiful poem , with your very sensitive touch and awarness you examined the beauty of the young girl and made the readers apreciate every parts of her, making her see herself in a brighter light.
You have all the right to watch yourself in the miror and love the girl you see, she is beautiful , inside and out.
