Mother Hubbard 2.0

Mother Hubbard 2.0

A Poem by Charlotte aspin
"

Old mother Hubbard, reworked into my own version of a nursery rhyme... A CURSERY RHYME! *new project alert*

"
Old Mother Hubbard,
Dead in her cupboard,
Missing her jugular vein.
Her dog on the ground,
A ravenous hound,
Chewing her quivering brain.

The beat is beautiful. The poem is short (I am partial to short poems) and to the point. I like it.
A question: might there be another word to replace 'quivering'? Quivering suggests she is still alive.
