Undertow

Undertow

A Poem by Tales From the Mad Cafe

It's easy to give up and drown

Let the undertow take you down

Let the waves fill your lungs

Tell yourself it's over and done

So hard to keep your head above water

To find the strength to swim a little farther

To believe that you'll reach dry land

That there's someone there to take your hand

Sinking deeper, you want to give in

Feeling that you'll never win

That you'll never reach that hallowed shore

As the rocks and reefs batter you more

Yet fight you will, till your lungs burn

For you know the tide will surely turn

The current will drift you to the golden sand

Finally setting your feet upon dry land
