While we protect

While we protect

A Poem by Riv

When the words crossed your mind,
what do you think I would have responded.
Upon inspiring a single word - a single note,
that was too much for your own mind to handle.
I knew upon that moment what I needed,
that I couldn't protect you in every moment.

Yet, while I could not protect you,
not all the time.
I would still be beside you,
waiting for the storm to calm.
Your feelings could not be understood -
not as easily perhaps.
However you could think of it,
what was I supposed to do.

No one could understand the talks we had,
not that they'd want to.
Our words could pass over the fire,
they could pass over time.
The feeling of touch that we felt,
wouldn't be ignored nor would it fail.
As we figured each other out,
we also found out why this world was this way.

Figuring yourself out is a journey to go down. Especially understanding that you love each other, and who you were at the same time.

It's interesting, moreover, why do we protect. Why is that feeling there? I like the concept in your notes and what you are implying, sometimes we will never know, but together if a relationship is to suceed, vulnerability and those dark secrets must come out, but only with trust and that's takes time. I especially liked these lines: No one could understand the talks we had,
not that they'd want to.
Our words could pass over the fire,
they could pass over time. Very creative...thank you...Dale

Kindness and friendship. The greatest gift we can give.
"Yet, while I could not protect you,
not all the time.
I would still be beside you,
waiting for the storm to calm."
The above lines were the actions needed. Thank you Riv for sharing the outstanding poetry.

Very heartfelt and metaphysical. Such serene feelings are brought upon us when love one another and when we figure out who we are and where we are going. That strength found within strong against all outer conditions.

Excellent poem, every stanza shares a new view but ties in well with the previous piece, creating an altogether wonderful whole. Also really like the title of your poem, showing how we are in service to each other and what that means. You detail it well without giving everything away, thank you for sharing!

LimnoH, This is probably the most thoughtful and deep piece I've ever read of yours. Each thought flows effortlessly into the next; the composure with which you weave all ideas together and enable them to gel is incredible. I had to read this three times; not because I didn't understand it but because I wanted to understand it better. This is going into my library favorites; thank you for that! take care...dan
