Distance Holds Our Love

Distance Holds Our Love

A Poem by Linda J. Wofff
"

a poem about long distance love

"

Distance holds our love in bondage
It could be one mile of country road
Or maybe three thousand miles
Of sand, ocean, and the breeze

However, it cannot hold how I feel about you
I know I cannot touch you
However, the wanting is over-flowing
To embrace you with my everything

It consumes my thoughts
Tearing reality away from my heart,
Leaving me in a dream state of mind
Between dosing and wakefulness

Every ounce of my body
Feels this magnetic strength
Drawing, pulling me closer to you
I try to fight it off; but I cannot

Tell me when, when I will be
In your arms again my love
To inhale you... to hold you for eternity
Please darling... tell me when!

The story of my life in this short poem.I met my wife through my nephew on line and she lives in the Philippines. After 8 months or so courting on line I flew over there to actually meet and marry her.Stayed with her for 6 months then returned stateside to start her processing to immigrate.I was advised by Homeland Security our case would be decided in early November so I went back in November two days before our first anniversary. Our case was just decided on Jan 12 so I had to return alone again to further facilitate her case even more. Now I have to find a new job to kick my income back up again to sponsor her VISA .So we are apart our love is strong.

Beautiful words you have in here to express such yearning, to answers the pulsating questions of when would the time come to give closure to this hunger that is looking for closeness, and the intensity of such longing for being in the physical presence of the one who keeps the heart strings. You have a very nice way to paint the picture of the emotions at play.
