{bravery of a flower}

once upon a time,

my path crossed with a warrior;

one with a kind soul

& eyes as fierce as fire.

.

her hazel sight could hypnotize 

all too shy to stare;

to know the broken they have seen,

would make one feel despair.

.

although her hair was red,

her heart was every color possible;

you’d never know her soul once shattered,

for she was a force unstoppable.

.

she challenged me with her banter,

words painted with humor & wit;

i could tell her heart knew pain,

but she would never quit.

.

so yes, i crossed paths with a warrior,

once upon a time;

she taught me many things,

the first - my future, is mine.

.

This started as a fairy-tale... I've written many narrative fractured fairy-tales as poems... I never see any... I was hoping this was one. But in a way it was and I really liked it. The ending made it worthy of expectation. tyfs

From what I've read, you have a talent for ending your poems. I always love the way they land and they always feel complete. This poem paints quite the picture of an admirable person--it makes me want to know more about her, to meet her. Nicely done.
