"Don't Cry Darling."

"Don't Cry Darling."

A Poem by Liv

Well I actually wrote this last summer I think, so it's pretty out-dated. However, this is one of my better poems (I guess) so I figured I should post it. This one's pretty short as well.

Don't cry darling, don't run away. 'Hold on tight', that's what they all say.
But how can you understand the un-understandable, though?
It's dark and all blurry. Half fake, and half untold.

It's scars not shown, and wounds that only fade a little with each day-
but these wounds.. they won't ever fully go away.

It's those memories locked up, and not to be spoken of.
Of course everyone has things that they don't want anyone else to know of..
So how am I to say, I am different from them?

Let's smile but bleed inside. Be blind from what we wish not to see,
and be deaf from what we wish not to hear.

Eventually it will all be alright.. if you my darling, just hold on tight.

Author's Note

Constructive critisim is appreciated, even though this is an old poem.

For me, it doesn't matter how short a poem is, or anything for that matter, it matters more about what your trying to say. I think that this poem was expressed brilliantly. I especially liked this part

"Let's smile but bleed inside. Be blind from what we wish not to see,
and be deaf from what we wish not to hear."

Great write! Looking forward to reading more.

Wow. I'm usually not a huge poetry fan, but you've got some really great talent. And does your page say you just turned 14?! I wish I could write that well when I was your age :) You should be proud of yourself, because this poem is really pretty. Good job!

Hey, my name's Liv. I'm 14, and I like poetry. My favorite poet is Emily Dickinson, although I am also very fond of many other poets as well. Just because I am young doesn't mean I can't write, but.. more..
