Lost Memory

Lost Memory

A Poem by Lobelia
"

This poem was written in the year 2013 which I submitted for the English Department Annual Magazine in my college. It talks about a memory which is very important yet now is a blurry image image...

"
The gentle blowing of the breeze,
The quiet whisper of the rustling leaves,
Remember the arrival of summer,
How we were there for one another?

Now though,I'm all alone,
Beside the river skimming stones.
The past is now a memory,
No longer a state of clarity.

This very place beside the river,
Is now my greatest treasure.
I hope by being here,
These floating memories will become clear.

The sun now finally sets,
And I regret,
My greatest fault:I did not see,
That I would lose this memory.

I love the melancholy sweetness about this. Memories are so precious, and sometimes very painful when you've lost the real thing. Beautiful write...

This is nature's design because, in the end, it hurts less this way, whether the fading memories are pleasing or unhappy. We are meant to live in the present even if we don't want to. Your poem is lovely.

Why skimming and not skipping?

It leaves a feeling of beautiful remorse.

Well phrased :)

True, memories fade...
So sad. Pictures, take lots of pictures.

The past will definitely float away like the "breeze" you mention but it's up to you whether to keep the "memory" or to let it go. Nice poem. Beautiful rhythm. Keep it up :))

The rhyme you have created really rolls off the tongue. :) I love the meaning of the poem. Memories are something we hold dear, but can be mixed up over a count of time. Beautiful poem
