Stand Aloof!
A Poem by Joseph Eluzai
Darfur and the 'homicide' there......
Stand
aloof,
not under our roof,
you genocidaires!
Our withered
hands are groping for the questionnaires
To scatter
your bloodthirsty dawn across
Without
thought or remorse
Stand
aloof, champion of crimes frozen
In the
midst of time forgotten
In your
wild ride across haunting cries
Of children
and their mothers under the skies
Who among
us can outpace you to the cowshed of mongers
Saddled on
gingers?
Bent on
bringing dignity to its knees
To meet the
rising fees
Of your
heartless aggression void of contemplation
And your
bloody mission stripped of notion
Rolling
back humanity
In the name
of insanity
Darfur is
just a bout of your tattoos
In a world
that claims taboos
Shame is
too small a word for your sin
If the
world still cares about the color of your victim’s skin
Outrage is
a big joke
Because you
have friends who still poke!
Rwanda was
the heap of your shavings
Darfur will
be the tip of your cravings
Who will
ever question
When we
have never learnt a lesson?
Seasoned
genocidaires,
Or
established millionaires?
The line
simply blurs;
Just as
sure as a cat purrs
