My Friend

This poem is written for and dedicated to my best friend from high school, someone who has seen the best and worst of me and has stayed through it all. I love you, Bear! Thank for being my brother!

You and me

We’re thick as thieves 

Been that way all along 

You finish all my sentences 

And when my world feels off 

You’re the yin to my yang

When I’m knocked to my knees 

You’re right there to catch me,

Dust me off and help me stand 

When words fail to find us

You sit with me in silence 

Saving space and giving time 

I feel the hurt 

When your heart is bruised

And I know you feel the same 

You’re here for me

As I am for you 

We’re in this thing together 

It’s been you and me 

For as long as I remember 

My friend, I’m here to stay
