People of the Night

People of the Night

A Poem by Lourisa
"

Observations and personal experience in a psychiatric ward.

"

a lonely footfall.  secrets untold.

another whisper in the blackness of the night.

a single teardrop. voices nonstop

accusing, blaming, never giving up the fight.

a broken mirror.  red river

flowing to the sea of dark dispair

a screaming horror. visions linger

in corners of a mind in disrepair

This is a great write that depicted a special situation of human life from your own experience.
The conversation on the poem will be very helpful for the concerned persons.
Thanks for sharing and hope you will be free from the state of disrepair soon.

I spent two weeks in a place like this after my dad died. It is just like this. The last stanza sat me up. There are things that just cannot be swept from the corners of a mind in disrepair. I still have cobwebs up there and it has been over 10 years now. Angi~

Same here. Oh, and I meant "loss" not "lost" ;)
WOW. I have a childhood friend who worked as a tech for three years in a geriatric/psych ward. It was often like a war zone - without IEDs.
This is a powerful poem.

It's the war within oneself that is so devastating. Thanks for the review!
"...a mind in disrepair." : A feeling I know all to well. Never imagine yourself alone, distant friend, for though it is unlikely that we shall ever meet in 3-D, you and I have more in common than either of us would care to admit, I think. And have both found a vehicle for expressing our inner demons in a lovely and a productive way, as well. Keep up the good work, both between the ears and on the screen; both modes are yielding results you may not yet be able to see!
