Dear Insomnia

Dear Insomnia

A Poem by Lourisa

And so we meet again

1 am

This affair must end

I do not love you

I despise you

You’re driving me insane

No more coffee

No more writing

Sleep, sweet sleep

Is all that must remain.

     Good night.

Author's Note

Lourisa
It's my second week of no sleep or three hours sleep at most per night. It wouldn't be such a bad thing if I didn't have a life to live during the day.

This is deep yet provoking, you should relax your mind and go back in your dreams..

I have relatives that suffer through it. Great poem.

Lourisa, I wish I could tell you, a way to send your ungrateful lover, away, but like you, I suffer from insomnia. Except, in my case, my insomnia isn't limited to a couple of weeks, rather months, at a time, due to depression and PTSD.

And yes, your poem so eloquently describes the struggle, we must face, on a daily basis. Am hoping, in the time that has past since, writing and posting this poem, you have found true relief, from this curse.

Well, Loury ... Am sorry to hear about that you couldn't sleep well. I hate seeing when angels got tired... anyway, this write's came from your heart what you felt at that moment you just dig that and I really hate when someone as amazing as you feel not so well and feel bad at all... I hope now it's all okay there ..

I sleep pretty well, but on those rare sleepless nights, it is torture. Trying to shut off the mind - impossible! You have captured the insomniac's plight perfectly, Lourisa!

Thanks Rita. Yes, the mind has a life of its own during the wee hours of the morning.

Quite right, insomnia is a selfish lover.

Wishing you a good night's rest. I think all us poets find ourselves where you are sooner or later. Could be your days are so long right now.
