The Last Moment

The Last Moment

A Poem by Lucas C. M.

You lay in the bed,
A room smelling of disinfectant,
A steady beep to your right,
As loved ones gather around you,
Some even cry,

You vision is blurry,
Your hearing not the best,
Your warm all over,
As you hold a shaky breath,

After hours of reassurance,
Of prayers and tears,
You lay here in this bed,
As the end draws near,

You lament over lost time,
You thank for all the good,
You look at everything you had,
And it makes you cry,

While a single tear,
Drips from your eye,
You release your shaky breath,
Your final goodbye,

The cries begin to fade,
As your vision begins to darken,
That steady beep,
Becomes a frantic consession,

People come in,
But you can't see them,
Cries turn to wails,
But you can't hear them,

As the warmth slowly slides,
And your vision slowly goes,
You begin to drift away,
Into an endless sleep,

Author's Note

Lucas C. M.
I literally wrote this in four minutes with something on my mind. Be frank with the critism, I know it's rough and not my best.

Also this is the first poem I have written in probably three years.
