For My Great-Nanny 90th Birthday

For My Great-Nanny 90th Birthday

A Poem by L.J Bunn

Flowers on a stemFor my Great-Nanny 90thBirthday
by Lucy Caglar (Bunn)

Nanny Lyons in case you didn’t know,

I want you to hear it from me,

You’re more precious than I could ever explain,

You’re the heart of the family.

We are blessed when you are beside us,

And warmed by the glow of your smile,

So lucky to share your wisdom,

When we sit and chat for a while.

And Nanny if I ever grow to ninety,

I want you to know it’s true,

I will always love you forever and ever,

There’s no one more precious than you.

Being of a "grand" age myself, I find this excellent poem especially touching. Not everyone honours the aged, so it warms my heart when I see it. When I was young, I didn't realize what wealth of knowledge and wisdom the elderly had. Now I dearly wish I'd have begged to hear their stories.
