Fair Weather Friend

Fair Weather Friend

A Poem by Kenneth Compton
"

This is the truth of me, whether sickening of enlightening, it's there for the chopping block.

"

I am a fair weather friend

There only when convenient

There for the good times

And never the bad

I am a selfish sycophant

Appreciate of your consolations

But not able to offer

Any of my own

I am in this for me

Unable to empathize

Unable to even pretend

And for this, I am sorry

But I can not be bothered

To care about your woes

The way you do mine

All I do, I do for me
