With Equal Ease

With Equal Ease

A Poem by Kenneth Compton
"

continuing a trend of writing on the duality of man, I am not sure why I am compelled to write so much on the subject.

"

I can spit vile venomous filth

And sing sweet serene praise

With equal ease

I can sink slowly, surrendering to dark depression

Or float featherlike and free on fair winds of ecstasy

With equal ease

I can break a damned soul

Build a saint’s heart

Love like a god

Or hate like the devil

With equal ease

For I am man

And in man there is naught but endless potential

To be the greatest of kings

Or the worst of tyrants

wow, I love the power behind these words, this owning up to the power of who you are. Its that knowing your own skin, who you are, how you are that makes you the greatest of men!

The message is conveyed wonderfully through the structure and is enhanced by the rhyme and flow of the piece. You have managed to explore something quite complex with not that many words. Great job

Another stellar piece Kenneth. This is very well done and like always, the message really hits home.
