A Poem by Lydia Shutter
"

rainy day "stuff"

"

without pain

            sans passion

i see the world as it is today

through a rain streaked window

                        like a hoyden

i rant at the greedy squatter in my brain

inequities will not be tolerated!

                      like a wide-eyed schoolgirl

i gather beauty in my arms

a benign smile creeps to my lips

a calm moment

releasing me from bitterness

a moment i will remember tomorrow

with a curious mingling

of pleasure and pain

when the world

has its way with me

again

The beauty of nature is surely a great comforter to all of us, Lydi. When people have done us wrong, we often turn to its loving arms to regain our peace of mind. This poem is truly beautiful. Framed by lovely graphics, your words shine like the morning sun rising over the horizon.

There are days when we just need to let it rain...knowing the sun will shine again. You have such an eye for beauty Lydi and the pictures you paint with your words are allow the reader to feel what you are feeling. You really are incredible (Have I told you that lately?) Hugs, Julie

LOL here too, Julie. 89 with a heat index of 94. Still, I prefer this to snow.
It's those beautiful moments that make the day worthwhile Lydia, especially when we see so much angst around us. It was so lovely to read something fresh and serene and in today's world I think all those words make us thankful for life.
Get writing, as always.

That's for sure, Rita. Thanks for reading and leaving me a review. Lydi**
Yes, I agree. Rain (the rain) is always a borrowed derivation, serving as its object to reinforce the
meaning of all things calm and colossal. I read all of your poetry, and I mean all of it, and I
never heard you speak this freely. Very nicely written my friend....dana

Beautiful, Lydi...the way your words cascade on a page, Lovely...and yes, I accept, the world the way it is, for better or worst.

What a lovely way to say this. How we should learn to let go and not let things consume us. Stunning Lydi. Beautifully written and combined with a stunning image.

did you mean "a benign smile creeps..."?

i like this look at a rainy day through the streaked window...sometimes days in life are like this without literal rain...but figuratively we look at our own life through this window, and it is pain streaked...

just like with mother nature, it is hard to fight that feeling..it just comes and goes like a storm...

but sunny days come again.
