Intentions

Intentions

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

I’m sure

the tree had good intentions

when it sucked in all that sunshine and rain

(growing like a weed as it were)

but Emily Post would not be pleased

watching its elbows come up through the concrete

so what good are intentions anyway?

on this steamy Sunday

the calendar says it’s not summer anymore

but the heat index never did follow the rules

(of course neither did I)

so I’m off to walk through the wet sand

there I’ll watch the saltwater erase my footprints

so what if our intention was to make you notice

by example for all those years

you never really did

intentions be damned!

What a wonderful piece on "Intention" you made, everybody has some intentions to do what they want to do but when they don't get any way to reach at the place where their intention lies, "Damned" word helps 'em to make another Intention.. lol to do what they wish to do in a day... an every new day. I loved this piece. It's well expressed under your Intentions of great thoughts. Once again you did an amazing job as always you do.

THe road to hell is paved with good intentions, so the saying goes.
I though this was a very lovely poem and felt like shouting out BRAVO at the end!

Sometimes things can get out of hand if left unchecked !

An intriguing subliminal perception !

I'd certainly take that walk on the beach even if no one else ever gives a "damn"! It's your life and what others think of what you do is completely irrelevant. I, too, loved the images in this one. That tree imposing its elbows on the world certainly could use a few manners, but I'm sure he doesn't care when he's soaking up all that sun and rain and surely enjoying himself. Another great one, Lydi! You seem to have a pen that never, ever runs out of ink! You are blessed.

but the heat index never did follow the rules
(of course neither did I)... and I'm so glad you are a rule breaker my friend. This poem is so "Lydi" - perfect metaphors and a whole lotta attitude - written with elegance and style. Love it!

"You never really did", notice.
Hmmm.
I see the passive aggressive destruction here.
Time and pressure will eventually crack the strongest of us all.
Breaking rules and headless and out of context with our actions like a weed. Very good metaphors here Lydi.
I felt the frustration to be sure.
Now, what song is playing? Ha.
