the perfect words

the perfect words

A Poem by Lydia Shutter
"

"november has started...the holidays are upon us"

"

photo by john benign “french tulips”

it seemed so simple

      i heard the thunder

            but the lightning

                  had not yet struck

all i had to do

was convey a shrug of honest emotion

and you’d see inside my dreams

     no matter where you were

you’d know the holidays

were when i needed you most

and realize i can’t even look at your photos

without feeling the tears well up

yes, i thought i held the perfect words

in the palm of my hand

     but in a split second

          of sad understanding

              i knew

all i held were scattered letters

                    and a heavy sigh

This breaks my heart. I don't know what to say to be of any help for what you're going through. But I am also hoping that upon writing this sincere poem, you have at least, ease some of the pain. Thank you for this part of you that you share to readers like me.

Oh Lydi!

This gave me goosebumps...magnificent flow of the heart's tune to missing and yearning...sometimes, those photos and other forms of memorabilia, do haunt...tears are only ever a blink away in situations like this, I so understand!

Hugs

And its always a good to read your work! :)
Cherished memories and reminders everywhere of a loved one now no longer there, holiday time can make these precious memories even more poignant and heartfelt!

An stirring emotional poem, penned with dignity and great pathos !

A pleasure as always Lydia my sweet friend !
Oh my friend...the holidays are always such a nostalgic time, for all of us i think. they bring with them such an avalanche of emotions, memories of people so dear to us. Soon those festivals become more about cherishing those memories than creating them. this was so heartbreakingly beautiful, Lydi. Just what i needed to read today. It is always a joy to read a piece of your heart.

Your review is worth the world to me, Pat.....so poetic! Thank you very much, Lydi**
A very familiar feel here...perhaps 'cause I stay scattered!
I love the feel of this and even it's presentation added to the flow. It feels more like someone's words to ear than ink to paper.
"the holidays were when I needed you most" ....and so many are about to feel this way.

Thanks much for the share, Lydi!
