for just that one moment

for just that one moment

A Poem by Lydia Shutter
"

nothing like an early morning walk on the beach

"

photo copyright:

the sky this morning

was burgundy wine

seagulls debated

over who would catch the plumpest fish

the world was my coffee mug

and the java was spiced with sea air

a wanton page of newsprint

wrapped itself around

an unsuspecting palm trunk

there were no blanks

in the conversation i had with me

gathering a cache of inspiration for later use

i smiled

because for just that one moment

all was right with my world

This is lovely. Short and sweet, with wonderful images. I love the line "the world was my coffee mug". It conjures up those rich warm moments of being perfectly content and happy with everything around you. The perfect day. The perfect morning. I really enjoy how you create that warmth. I also love "there were no blanks...in the conversation I had with me..." that is a lovely way to put being along with your thoughts, and at peace with your own companionship. I really enjoyed this from beginning to end! Well done!

I wish I lived near the water, Lydi. This felt like a communion with yourself. I like how the palm trunk dealt with the newsprint instead of you. Taking a really deep breath like this is so cleansing. Lovely. Angi~

Break or breath....work equally as well. I thank you very much for your review, Diana. Lydi**
I like the format. No punctuation or capitals... Just words. Well, more than words, because it conveys the thought intact and the satisfaction few ever find even for a moment in this life. Think how incredible it is to feel this and understand you can live this moment over and over. We can choose to live these perfections.
Inspirational Lydi!

Your poem felt just as invigorating and calming as an early morning walk on the beach, my friend. There is nothing better than walking back home with inspiration in the heart. Knowing that no matter what may go wrong later in the day, you will have a poem to write...and its just enough for us poets. Lots of breathtaking lines in this one, Lydi. Loved it.

Artwork and words were amazing. My favorite place is the beach. I miss the long quiet walks in the private time of a early morning. The good description took me to good places and thoughts. Thank you for the excellent poetry.

Such a beautiful picture you have made with your words. I felt like I was right there at the ocean. Nothing better morning coffee and the beach :).
