Goodnight

Goodnight

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

art by Richard Johnson “Casimere”

Conversation bends at the waist
sleepy eyes drink in love brewed with desire
amazing how well your arms feed my sensuality
allowing it to blossom
                         but the truth is....
my morning caffeine has eloped
with things better left unsaid
        do you see them?
impenetrable curves of night

enter the picture perfectly
yet this edgy poem screams to be scribbled
before slumber has her way with me
kissing dreams of you goodnight

Ah...i felt this poem take over me just like the slow..smoky..lingering sleep you describe here. the images are so breathtaking...from the morning caffeine eloping to the "impenetrable curves of night". the slumber must wait next time until poetry has done its job, lol. Another masterpiece from you, my friend.

Sorry to hear that your morning caffeine has eloped. But take heart in knowing it never goes far, and is always faithful to the one who drinks it.
Great Poem

"conversation bends at the waist"

great line...i love "my morning coffee has eloped with things better left unsaid"

remember how great last night was?

well let's have our morning coffee and run away before we say anything and kill the mood..

no words need to be said sometimes...and sometimes it is just physical...just desire..and words will ruin it...

it's just a night...and a good one at that...

and when i wake up from my slumber...that moment will be gone..so let us just remember it for that.

okay i am rambling...but you used such great phrasing in this...i am eloping with the poem...

we are running away together...taking the mood with us.

I love it. Economy of words. Subtlety and depth conveyed at once. I am new here. Have no idea how to rate these things. So, in high school a 95 was an A+ hopefully that is okay with the author.

In between morning and night, there is real fine sensuality....

Your artworks choosen are always the finest, and your words truly touch.

I must say when I clicked on the page to read your poem, I absolutely gasped at the image as it is so very lovely! You do such a wonderful job of choosing the proper paintings, images, etc. to accompany your exquisite poetry! If I am unfamiliar with the artist, I do a search and find the most delightful facts and other works of the artist so I thank you for being versatile with the images you use......now, to your poem:

It is playful, invoking thoughts of spending intimate time with another and then realizing the morning caffeine fix has left the scene. I like the use of the word "eloped" as your stay awake time comes to end. Ah, then off to dreamland as sleep has her way with you!
