memories
      invisible for so long
suddenly appear
with the touch
of an evil magician’s wand
         presto!

there they are again
   in all their glory
words burn my tongue
as i say them for the first time
in what seems like forever
               they do a dance
before making a swan dive
into the audible world
a sort of non-retaliatory depository
as it were
and it is then i realize
they belonged to not only me
i was not the only one
who cried myself to sleep remembering
                 and somehow
                              that makes all the difference

Yes, it's so important and it makes a difference when you share your pain to someone. It lessens your burden...having such feeling that someone helps you carry your loads. But it's not a one-sided thing. Somehow you wanted someone to treat you the same...that you could also be a shoulder to cry on. And it really makes a difference...and creates a strong connection.
This is great, Lydi. Thanks for the share.

the magicians wand brings the words out and into the listening ears, and every ear those words fall upon share whatever utterance they bring,

You're welcome.
Finding others who share our experiences helps us to see we are not alone. There's a bond there...an empathy that can not be compared. When those dark memories surface...knowing we have others to voice them to is a bit of solace to our pain.

I find poetry is quite the release for me, whenever there is pain. The heart needs to feel, afterall. Your "magician's wand" is never short of hand, Lydi!
