Tepid

Tepid

A Poem by Lydia Shutter
"

Oh the wonders of a bubble bath!

"

Artwork by Sophie Schubakoff

Twas a bit of a jarring juxtaposition
nearly perfect

           certainly not virtuous
ripples of you

undulated across the surface of my skin
a scuttlebutt of delicious gossip
in which I aspired to be the leading lady

Your name escaped my moistened lips
as the bubbles burst
but by then I felt certain
the bath water would never feel tepid

oh my goodness girl!! I didn't know whether to giggle with delight or play with the bubbles and ripples... wheeeew.... "scuttlebutt of delicious gossip" has to be one of the most amusing, clever, and creative phrases I have had the pleasure of reading.. that is a masterpiece in and of itself... what a slow sensual teasing that has just enough playfulness in it... I really enjoyed this one... I am almost certain that the mirror is definitely fogged up in there:)

Oh my, exhilarating Lydikey! I definitely love the feel of a bubble bath but I must be using the wrong stuff, mine never felt this playfully stimulating. :)

I think between you, John, Jacob and Frieda, this place could run off the steam you exude! April stole my lines, but I've got dibs on our friendship...always a pleasure, Lydi!

Clever lady, you can make anything sound like anything you want it to. Almost makes me want a bath, and I am (GASP) a shower person.

I think I need a shower now...no maybe a bath might feel better. I loved this poem Lydi. The beauty of your words never fails to entice me into a full blown smile.

Keep smilin', Will! :) Thank you for the review. Lydi**
I like your alliteration, you indeed transformed the mundane into the magical! Such innocent eroticism, through few words, that's what I like.

absolutely. fantasy is just a layer of reality.
Ohh my!! The tub will be warm with teasing bubbles torturing the sensitive skin,eh?? Well i had looked at bubbles with awe. Always a childish fantasy. But the way you turned it into something so steamy. I guess next time i jump to the tub- i am gonna feel my body heat up. Your words do delicate work of slowly arousing the reader. Well done Lydi :)

Such a sensuious and delicious piece Lydi. I too love to lay in a hot bath and contemplate until the water is tepid. So therapeutic. This watery creation speaks of infatuation.

WOW Lydi, your poem makes me want to stop taking showers and jump in that tub.. er.. I mean I think you are already the "leading lady" and your poetic waters are NEVER "tepid"... you had me at "twas" and just got better.. "ripples of you
undulated across the surface of my skin" damn Lydi, this is just wonderful poetry... did I mention I love this poem and give it 1000 "nice" hand me a towel before my skin gets wrinkly from those ripples.. er ... ;0)
