Never Forgotten

Never Forgotten

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

The memory of your smile curved into mine this morning

the sun peeked through the trees as I took my walk

my bare arm was caressed by its warmth

I thought of how much you would have loved the feeling

             it’s true

tonight when the sunset cedes power to the starry sky

like a lullaby, the words you said will play in my mind

a melody still enchanting

                 and never forgotten

Ohhh Lydi... this one has such an ache. how deeply we miss the people we love in these seemingly ordinary moments. it just fills you with a special kind of sorrow. i love the images you have created...the sun peeking through the trees, the sunset, the starry sky and the melody that will accompany you through the night. i am lost in this beautiful melancholy.

Same here.
The lighthearted steps warmed my hearts, I could feel and see it all and wanted to be there: How lovely it is:....tonight when the sunset cedes power to the starry sky like a lullaby, the words you said will play in my mind a melody still enchanting and never forgotten...beautiful. Thank you Lydia. Dale

You're welcome: Dale
This has gorgeous imagery starting with the very first line. I could feel the sun warming my arm and instantly thought of who I would like to share the feeling with.

I believe real art, poetry, is to expressively transfer emotion from one soul to another and this does an exceptional job at that.

You are welcome. Always a pleasure to read your words.
It's like I know who you are writing this for,
and yet it could be for anyone that has lost someone special.

You make it sound so soft and peaceful, and tender.

Lovely poetry, as always,
Thank you for sharing.

Things that remind us of the one we love will always resurface on us, whether it is a smile, a wink in he eye, a movement of the hand, because they live in our enchanted forest of memories. Beautiful...

So rare to see words come out from their birthing place looking like they always should have been together. A touch of silk.

I think most of us can relate to this. Memories like such are always good to hold onto. Because any little reminder is a remembrance of those we will always hold dear to our heart.

My wish (perhaps even my dying wish) is to get every poet that writes love poems to gather
in a place of my choosing so I can look them straight in the eye and ask, "OK, now how did
you get here and why are you coming to these conclusions". Because love poetry, in this
world of temptation,is both seductress and seductor of all things of this world we want to
forget.

You are a marvelous writer.....dana
