i dance

i dance

A Poem by Lydia Shutter
"

something so wonderful about letting myself go while dancing

"

artwork courtesy of etsy.com

i dance

letting the music take me

wild and free

        ice blue and red hot

blind to all the eyes on me now

their opinion matters little

i smell summer in the notes

i touch heaven with the beat

the dance floor is a kiss beneath my feet

drinking sweet gulps of euphony

a delicate wanting in my soul is sated

i feel no pain

            zig zag and willy nilly

my heart smiles

i dance

oh my friend.. this is what i do when no one is watching! i dare not dance in front of anyone...because i can't. but then, dancing is all about letting go...just like your poem. it is so true, when we are free within ourselves..others opinions doesn't matter, and shouldn't matter. i love the glorious sense of freedom here...the wild, untamed souls that we were made to be. Fantastic write!!

'If music be the food of love...let the band play on '

Wonderfully penned Lydia, one is simply carried away on the rhythm of these sweetly penned words, just as if they were listening to a good old foot tapping tune !

So many lines... but 'the dance floor is a kiss' stands so far out as an amazing one I think I will remember it for a long time.

Thank you so much, Ken. Lydi**
love it. particularly because I don't think I can behave like that myself. oh, how I wish I could! too self conscious. but then perhaps our soociety is so different from yours. I'd be the laughing stock of the town. they'd say I completely went round the bend.
if you can really do what you wrote here, Lydi, you have my admiration.

Yes, there are different "norms" in different societies.
It is you and the music and your partner, if you have got one. No one else is necessary! Dance!

This poem was delivered very well. I could feel the positive, hyped up energy throughout. The words you chose to use, from time to time, made me laugh. But that worked with the good vibes that go along with this poem. Well done.

Lydi, You dance upon the page with
moves that hypnotize and
instill a sense of propriety
that seems to resonate within

I dance and I sing...in private! Lol, I just let my inner Madonna loose...sometimes, I'm even in my underwear! Lol, another jewel, Lydi! Oh, and I love the dress, too!

What a lovely abandonment of restraint Lydi. On the odd occasion I 'strut my stuff' this is my exact emotion. Well captured and displayed!
