iced tea perplexities

iced tea perplexities

A Poem by Lydia Shutter
"

blame this on the fact there's a heat index of 105 here today.....

"

tasting the afternoon
in a tall glass of iced tea
i ponder perplexities of life

do bees have moustaches?
(if they do, they must be sweet)

does the flamingo’s foot hurt?
would sensible shoes help?

if i lived before
did my tarot card reading predict
i would be sitting here today
assembling happily ever afters from dandelion wishes
bamboozling reality
believing tribulations are as simple as
perforating my thirst
with this tall glass of iced tea

A tall glass of iced tea is delightful. Especially on a hot, summer afternoon.
Just holding the glass, absorbing its coolness in your hand and having a sip.
It is so refreshing. It just makes life taste a little sweeter.
Summer musings with a tall glass of iced tea is an afternoon well spent.
I'm actually having some right now, and wondering, if bees really do have mustaches? hmm...
Your musings bring a smile. I love this.

This is so sweet had me chuckling at the image of bees.
Beautifully scripted, light and so refreshing much like the topic.

Thank you very much, Rach...regards to you as well. Lydi**
A heat index of 105 can certainly cause one to ponder questions as you pose, but I would have enjoyed the tall glass of iced tea - lemon in mine please!
This is amusing, and a wonderful way to wile away the hours of a much too hot day!
PS: I wonder if flamingos all stand on the same foot or if they choose different ones. I ask because if we start a line of shoes for them, sensible of course, it would be easier if we could use the left and right......LOL

Too hot to work outside so why not sit back with a glass of ice tea and ponder all of life's important questions.

I loved this, it was a lot of fun, as always well scripted and enjoyable. I'm with everyone else her, I loved the bee question.

Thanks so much, James. It is really brutal here this summer. Lydi**
if anyone can bamboozle reality it is you Lydi... I am sure that your tarot predictions have you actually answering those philosophical questions about moustashes and feet as well as sensible shoes (everyone wants to know the answer to this question) as well as answering the question of just how many wishes does one get from all those dandelion seedlings floating away on the breeze??? and why is it that drinking iced tea on the lannai in sweltering hot weather give rise to the most perplexing of philosophical inquiries??

but I have the biggest of all ponderings?? Lydi can I get a glass of the iced tea??? Please!! and finally, why have I turned up the "fools card"??? lol...

wonderful icy "nice" tea poetry Lydi!!!!

Lol. I find myself giggling, and wondering about the bees.
I haven't thought of tarot cards in years. It's all we did as teenage girls, and maybe even beyond...
Sweet and refreshing poem. :)

There is an enchantment to your words that rises with these maddening temperatures. May you sip such soothing iced tea sensations and flow with only more of these endless inspirations. :)

I love these musings -- especially the bees! How delightful, sorry about the heat stroke, but it made a great poem.

dear Lydi, I have seen photos of flamingos
standing on one foot... perhaps the other foot
does hurt. My lover has a mustache and his kisses
are sweet. A glass of cool ice tea will reveal
the truth. truly, Pat

Always enjoy your reviews, sweet Pat. Thank you so much. Lydi**
this is a favorite...if i did that i would put in mine...

i like the metaphor...and straightforward questions about mustaches and and sore feet...

and another life...i do believe in reincarnation...so this hits home there. And if i liked tea the picture would be refreshing...

:)))

your poem brightened up my rainy, stormy, 4th of July.
