the honey of life

the honey of life

A Poem by Lydia Shutter
"

i took this photo from the deck of a cruise ship last week. nothing brings me more inspiration that this.

"

ripples of inspiration ride the waves

the sun sings anthems of rhyme

till twinkling stars line up in a parade of wordplay

the visceral mob comes at me

waiting for me to tame it

i welcome the onslaught

a translucent hum of poetic thoughts

serenades my spirit

sweetening it with the honey of life

Ah - firstly congrats for snapping the glory of sunset so well - - your tribute to nature's gift of inspiration is awesomely good - - eloquence mingled with metaphor held my attention to the very last line which is a sure winner..... the "honey of life" is a phrase to remember and thank you for sharing the splendour of sundown.

Truly one of the most creative & original poems inspired by golden rays lighting up the horizon (could be dawn or dusk). I love your melodic word sounds, as well as the middle stanza that's heartfelt & visceral for us writers! *smile* Here's wishing you & your loved ones a blessed & joyous Christmas (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Well done, Lydi. Sunsets are always conducive to poetry. That time of day when all calms down and the thoughts rise to the surface. Good write.

When beauty hits the eyes and mind from all directions, there's a buzz, a high, a wonder just how much you can take! But you do, you need to.. as an unrequested reward for opening your mind to what Nature gives so willingly.. Beautidul picture, beautiful words, Lydi.

For quite some time i have penned pieces that just seem to come with not much thought....never really considering what to write but when I do I am amazed and what has landed on paper. I have patches of inspiration but nothing solid these days making writing often tough, oh how i wish it wasn't as I love to write. Nicely penned Lydi :)

I hope you have been well.

To be honest, I was not really thinking of reviewing anything today but was struck by the comments of my reviewing predecessors who so eloquently extol the virtue of these truly beautiful and inspirational words of yours and bang, I was subsequently compelled to change my mind. A cracking photo too.....Neville

this is how i feel when i write...it's just an onslaught...nothing planned, no expectations and what comes is totally unexpected.
