it was a buffet for my soul
the warm water
smoothed my rough edges
as the waves whispered to me
the sea air cleared my head
and seagulls sang louder
than my stress
even though nothing i write today
will be recited by the greats
my smile knows
that is not as important
as what i feel
right now

Ditto Jacob’s sentiments and take on your poem Lydi... I could feel the tension melting away as you wrote, replaced by a calm known only to poets after finishing a poem.... the word that also comes to mind when thinking on this poem is “nice”...

I liked the above lines and I understand them. I love the lake days and the sea days. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

A wonderful poem dear Lydia and you are welcome my friend.
There's nothing better than being aware of feeling something different from the norm! To hear self sigh or gasp not quite knowing why but perhaps unknowingly had seen or felt a fleeting something that touched heart, mind, both. Comes the need to put it safely down on paper, to keep it close for always, , Pen and fingers go to work, words appear and you read, you feel, remembering the tickling of water on feet, the scented air, the delight, the calm, the excitement, Everything. . But its been expressed, written for YOU, not for recognition cos you already now what it was. Happiness.

You too, Emma.
Whoa... you gazing under your soft straw tilted hat is an omen of clean air and breezes of Aristotle’s philosophies... the sound of seagulls and waves whispering... the coolness of sand where the tide goes out as you sit and ponder the mysteries of the Universe. gently, Pat

Thank you very much, Pat. Lydi**
On the surface, your gracefully-stated poem seems to be about a cherished moment, being immersed in a ton of imagery for all the senses. Reading between the lines, I also see a big message about living in the moment. But I also read my philosophy about writing: not so much writing for the reader (who cares how many read it?) but just writing becuz it feels so damn good! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I can imagine a whole beach with your words. Though I have never seen one except in movies of course. You succeed in stirring imagination. I totally relate to your feeling about your works... Like a baby loved by her mother. Our works will always be loved by us

Amen, and an emphasis on right now. It's in the past and the future where all the troubles lie.

You know it. Thanks, John. Lydi**
Yes indeedly do Lydi... We can convey the feelings and emotions of what we felt and even the simplest of lines/writes can convey so much similar thoughts and even reminiscences of the readersown, but nothing can compare to capturing that essence and smiling, whilst thinking "Mine!"
I would much rather have a happy pen after it is written than during. That feeling is like giving ourselves a pat on the back, a cuddle and warm fuzzy thoughts. If anything else could do that it would be immediately taxed or made illegal until they figured out how to tax it 😀

The satisfaction I feel when I have completed a poem is worth all the effort. Most poets will say the same. It is a personal thing. For me, it is expressing my own brand of creativity. This is all about the process of writing. I love how you have approached this Lydi**

Its enough that we feel on top of the world in the moment. That in itself is great. The sea shore is a beautiful stress-buster. This is written beautifully. Loved it.
