potent yet gentle

potent yet gentle

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

artwork by robert mcginnis

potent yet gentle

you were a love sonnet

dancing through my universe

i wanted to give you my all

share my morning coffee with you

and then hold your hand

as we gazed at the moon

you were my epicurean meal

i was your comfort food

we flew so high

for just a NY minute

a minute that refuses to leave my heart

without exit wounds

I love these words combined with this art-work. They have such a timeless effect, like old films, back when they were "films" and not just "movies," because they were art and not mostly mindless entertainment.
I had a dress similar to this, once. Considered whether I should look for another similar.
Above all, I love these words.

Gorgeous in all aspects of romance; classy for all tastes. Painting is splendid. That NY minute might lead to a lifetime.

You caught me in a web, and in a NY minute, I knew I would never be free.
The exit wounds even if they exist, are only superficial...
The internal bleeding is what never forgets.

Ahhh, another slice of Lydi memories to make your heart turn to goo and wish they were ours and could write like that too.
Your last line everyone understands, and again wishes they had written too. Beautiful write Lydi.
