Battles

A Poem by MOON

Fragility lies on the edge of a teardrop

Holding dreams in its delicate hands

You are the mournful call on a quiet night

You are the scream shattering black to white

Washing all sorrow that bleeds the earth

Nerve gas and chemical warfare give birth

In the silence of the dreaded drone attack

Do you heed the face of the evil eye as the whips crack

There are children who fear the sound of your call

There are young men trying to find purpose thinking its war

There are Generals presidents and merchants kicking open the door

There are mothers whose tears refuse to fall

Love was never supposed to be like this

It was never meant to obliterate

Death should be nature calling and accidents of fate

Not the feeding of a war machine not that curse

Fragility held on a knifes edge

Lining suicides on a ledge

We set the stage play the part

Bloody hands and innocence torn apart

Thank you so much , much obliged
Some incredible lines in this well written poem. "Fragility lies on the edge of a teardrop" What images that conjures for me! War hurts so many innocent people....and tears families apart. Your words are forboding and ominous and quite powerful. Lydi***

Thanks Lydia , will stop by your page soon.
War...that's a curse...to people and to the place. It can never make someone a winner. Nobody wins in a war. Everybody's a loser, especially the woman, the child, the old, and the weak...

This piece is heartbreaking, any piece about war. I love the rhythm and the format.
Keep sharing your works.

Thanks Dear, war is a curse of all time.
I agree with Antonyo: this is a very ominous, profound piece, amazing use of imagery:

Fragility lies on the edge of a teardrop

Holding dreams in its delicate hands

You are the mournful call on a quiet night

You are the scream shattering black to white

Washing all sorrow that bleeds the earth

Nerve gas and chemical warfare give birth

In the silence of the dreaded drone attack

Do you heed the face of the evil eye as the whips crack

...eloquently compelling write you penned here. simply amazing! Thanks for sharing :)

Wow. An ominous piece with purpose that reads like doom, death and destruction set to art so effectively!

Thank you for sharing this one. It's necessary.

Life is such a mix of light and life... the fragile edge we live on... standing out on that ledge wondering.... This brought me such a sadness...

This is hands down my favourite of your poems I’ve read! I can’t pick a favourite line, they are all favourites. You started strong and kept the momentum throughout and ended strong. Peace, not just in the sense of not having wars…just peace in general, where everyone is tolerant, kind and thoughtful seems unnatural (which is sad). But people seem naturally violet!
