Las Vegas

Las Vegas

A Poem by Edward M.
"

A cautionary tale!

"

Easy money, quick wins

No religion, no sins

Pull the handle, press the button

Inhale the drinks, be a glutton

Spin the reels, kiss the dice

Feel the buzz, it tastes so nice

Split the pairs, double down

Fear the deuce, love the crown

Win a little, lose a lot

Raise your bets, chase the pot

Gamble the rent, feeling manic

Blame the buzz, taste the panic

Need to go home, face the wife

Easier to run, take your life

Easy money, quick wins

No religion, no sins

Your insistent rhythm and simple rhyme scheme reminds me of the pulling of the bandit's arm, of the scraping of the croupier's... scrapy thing. It fits very well.

I do take issue with the 'no sins', though: not having any money is a sin. And so is winning too much!
