Streets

Streets

A Poem by AmeliaGerhardt

I watch strangers on the streets
silently hoping they'll notice
My beauty?
My smile?
My charm?
No. No. No.

I watch strangers on the streets
silently hoping they'll notice
My intelligence?
My quirkiness?
My motivations?
No. No. No.

I watch strangers on the streets
silently hoping they'll notice
A heart in need of unmitigated love and
A mind torn to shreds by its inability to find it

I watch strangers on the streets
silently hoping they'll notice
how I fall apart
when they don't notice
me

WOW, I really liked the flow in this one. I can almost hear the words as I read them.

I have just read a few of your poems and I think your voice really comes through in them. They're genuine and honest and therefore I find them very powerful. This is my favourite so far, I can totally empathise with the feelings. I love that each section had enough description for me to understand but it didn't need anymore than 3 lines. Personally I think it would have had more impact with just 1 no rather than 3-just a straight cut off. But otherwise I loved it.
