For brightly they may shine..

When love leaves sometimes the heart still holds on...

 

 

The stars are out tonight, bright as can be

Twinkling their mystery, for lovers as they stroll

Holding hands, laughing, talking in whispers

Then a kiss so sweet, on lips of tender, to bestow.

 

For each tender heart, melting with love

Each savored moment, considered a gift

Desire comes slowly, peeking its head in

Yet understanding a must, the rest you just sift.

 

Through like old boxes of memories, past and new

You toss away hurt and pain, make room for new thrills

For that split moment you ask, 'is this the one?'

You stop and stare, your eyes taking all in, what part he may fill.

 

For I do remember.... 

 

For I did just the same, once long ago

Under these same stars, twinkling their mystery

For everyone to whisper, 'our love shall forever last'

Only my love up and left, to then become what is now history.

 

And I weep so silently, for inside cold and dead

For the past has jaded me, for to ever last

Teary eyed, I look up at the sky, bright the stars are

Yet no meaning do they hold, no promises of past.

 

To come back and bring forth the beauty of it all

To kiss these lips of tender, holding hands as we stroll

No longer in mind, I am forgotten, like yesterdays trash

No...... I am no longer in memory of one I once was enthralled.

 

Now so distant and lost, I walk the streets late at night

My tears falling slowly, hidden from all around

Head down, I walk on by. Lovers strolling, hand holding

Lips tenderly kissing,.. I see all, yet never make a sound.

emitting through the stars tho~ they sparkle and shine as
