Take Me

Bring me home to God in Heaven,
To where eternal resting lies--
Above the world, no longer broken,
Sleeping safely in the skies.

So now in this chanting sorrow,
In these tears which I abide,
Nevermore shall be tomorrow,
With the aid of suicide.

Grant me now a courage waiting
To stay and live upon this earth.
But what now is the point of living,
If I've not here since my birth?

I loved this poem, because of how dynamic it was. There were a lot of different elements to it. Longing, sorrow, but in a way, hope was there, too.

A sad poem... but I enjoyed its rhythm.
"Nevermore shall be tomorrow"... Smiled at that line - any chance that you're a Poe fan?
I'm always curious as to what kind of imagery a poet has in mind when writing a piece like this -obviously in your readers it evokes something different to what you see.
Anyway, I really enjoyed reading this!

Thanks for reading! And yes, I am a fan of Poe. ;) When I wrote this, it was less imagery then emotion... I kinda picture someone standing dramatically on a lonesome Cliffside though... Angels too for some reason. ^_^ Thanks again!!

This is a wonderful piece. It makes me both depressed and at the same time at peace. "Bring me home to God" is an amazing line that really makes this poem.
