Remember?

Remember?

A Poem by Mohammed Mansoor Al-Raisi

He's still in there somewhere.
He doesn't know, distantly lost, so far away.
A mighty tree with a single leaf, a once tied boat drifts past the reef.
A doorbell rings out of tune, dark night with no moon.
Languages once he spoke so well, now nonsensical noises to his ears.
Familiarity is no longer.
Faces, smiles and phrases, elusive thoughts, despite the steps he retraces.
I wonder, Does he still dream?
Slowly withering away. Mind was a matter, one he cannot find today.
An island drifting alone.
life, the endless river, still flows.
Surrounded by others, they are his own, hoping he returns from the unknown.
To him they are drops in the rain, strangers and family, one in the same.
Keep him company, listen to his woes. It's useless, water to a dead rose.
