Already Asunder

Already Asunder

A Poem by Malen

Tap, tap, tap
I am here again.
Are you ready to listen?
A moment, a plea
Will you never hear me?

Tap, tap, tap
I know you see me
Not unlike an intrusion
Wrecking with fright
Just hold tight

Tap, tap, tap
I've found it you know?
That part of your soul, unhidden.
It calls and cries begging to greet my hallowed eyes
With me it shall stay forgiven

Tap, tap, tap
A kiss, sweet and brief
I know you're ready to meet
Your grip unable to hold tight
You will be mine tonight

Tap, tap, tap
I am here again
Are you ready to begin
A world awaits and you are already late
So inhale my breath and lay to rest
Six feet under you are asunder

Does your muse always talk to you like this? I think you have captured what it is like to be hesitant to share what lies beneath our flesh and bone and exists only in a place that is often well hidden. A singer/songwriter once said on stage to his audience that writing a song about yourself was always the hardest because it leaves you naked in front of the world. That is indeed poetry! Thanks for sharing!
