what if the moon was a lover?

In the cosmos undiscovered, the Moon shone the most for me,
He crept up an emotion unrecognized within.
I was left in wonder of his beauty,
Beautiful ridges and mysterious features.
He fuelled a desire in me, to be able to reach him as close as I could,
I suppressed the thought of it being impossible.
He was the light giver of the night, I could only watch him from afar,
Admiring his countenance like everyone did.
The more I looked at him, the more I wished to be close to him,
Although he would drift faraway as soon as he would hear my wish.
From being crescents to halves, it felt like,
He showed me a new side of his, every day.
He would hide behind clouds of secrecy once in a while,
I would smile at his efforts of showcasing how he hated the world sometimes.
Who admired him in the night and forgot him in the day.
But I could never forget,
How he just veiled himself in the Sun's light to let the other shine.
He was an inspiration and an aspiration both,
For he never told me to hide my flaws.
He whispered how I should be proud of them,
For they were the ones that made me more human.
I would spend nights gazing at his maria,
Knowing he sometimes disliked himself too.
But how I wish I could murmur an assurance to him,
Tell him how he was the most beautiful thing I had ever witnessed.
But the least I could do was to wish to be a star,
Be one of the millions that yearn to shine beside him.
For he was the Moon after all, who shined high up in the sky,
And I was someone who would be woken up by the dawn of reality.
When he would sleep with his companions,
And I would wait for the night to commence.
