This brief offering describes the predicament of many. Having been hurt, or maybe just fearing hurt, they keep their emotions close to the vest. This may provide protection of a sort, but at the same time it keeps the affections of others at arms length. Loneliness and frustration are its fruits.

Almost a perfect 5/7/5 Senryu that can be made such with barely a breath of the pen's caring touch.

So many ways for a creative poetess to share that a hopeful romantic guest can enter the heart through an open door, but never through one that remains sealed from affection, or bravely taking a chance.
