Call of Retribution

Call of Retribution

A Poem by Marilyn My Bitterness

I never wanted to hate you

Never wanted to hate the blue day

Or the sun shining on my face

But everytime heat rises inside me

I hide my face in disgrace

Such beautiful things caress my skin

And all of it just makes me cringe

But this is retribution for my sins

For all the things to you I did

None of which I ever said a word

For it would have left you a dream deferred

Crusting over and oozing through the seams

Feeling like a failure from your lost dreams

No apologies will work now

Make everything the way they should

I'm sure things would have better

If I had stayed forever faithful

As we both promised we would

Pretty good piece. I really enjoyed the angle of revulsion at otherwise beautiful things, but personally found the guilt/remorse reason fueling it a bit of a letdown. That's just a personal preference, though, doesn't sway my opinion of the piece in a negative light or anything.

Subtle eloquence, solid use of language, and all around sound piece. At times it was a bit too direct, and I could have used more poetic distortion in place of the direct meanings, but otherwise yeah, sound piece.

Fantastic piece of remorse and regret

But this is retribution for my sins
For all the things to you I did

I like these line cause I think many times something goes wrong in our live we wonder if we are being paid back for mistakes in the past...

A honest and emotional write.
