Matthew Five Three

Matthew Five Three

A Poem by Marilyn My Bitterness

I climbed the Mount
And sat next to a Great Teacher
Heard words and discourses
Come straight from the original Preacher

I wept with sorrow
As I knew I had sinned
A life of instant gratification
It's pleasures now thinned

All these wasted years
Tears that need not have been shed
All out of sheer rebellion
When obedience was required instead

I begged forgiveness
My eyes now open to see
Happy am I now
For I am conscious of my spiritual need
