Winter is ComingA Poem by Dave Winter is Coming The November nights are getting colder the last glimmer of the fading full moon is hard to see against the gathering clouds of the coming winter. Leaves still clinging desperately to branches while myriads of their brothers coat the ground. A stag stands watch beside his doe and chases off another would be suitor, the leaves rain down. Acorns, by the hundreds, thousands crunch beneath my feet, unfound by the squirrels that scamper from tree to tree, food for winter a winter that is coming soon, felt already in the air. Only the birds of winter remain to add their songs to the grey and gloom, highlighted only by glistening snow covered branches and red berries of the holly bush towering above it, high in the pine tree a snowy owl hoots. a winter that is coming soon, felt already in the air. © 2019 DaveReviews
