Swept Away

Swept Away

A Poem by Dave

                                       Swept Away

The waves crashed upon the jetty jutting into the blackened sea

She stood, arms wrapped around er slender body, oblivous to the wind.

Her dark hair streamed behind her in the throes of the violent wind.

Standing amid the rain and the waves she was soaking from head to toe.

I  looked hard to see her face, but only saw a smile and I wondered.

Further and further she walked on the half-submerged jetty,

Her cllothing flapped loudly so I could hear it above the wind.

At the end of the jetty she solemnly raises her arms above her head.

A huge wave covers the end and I lose sight of her, then she is gone.

Vivid imagery here Dave in this tragic tale. Reminds me of how dangerous the sea can be when it is angry. Get too close and it can be lethal. Not a good place to be. Perhaps she knew that?

Have a very happy Easter. Hope you and yours are well.
