Ash

Ash

A Story by Matthew
"

Dear H5N1.

"

The beginning was bleak.

This world covered in purging fire.

The dirt is charred, the rocks scorched.

The obliteration of life is certain.

A world of overpopulation is now turned to ash.

One survivor left the world to search for another.

A world is found, it was very different but now is the one's new home.

There were few resources and the native wild life made it hard to survive.

However, little by little, the one pushed further and harder to make this new world work.

Over time, the one adapted, learnt, and found a home.

Lonely, the one became many.

The one became thousands of a kind, ready to explore; ready to see their new home.

In one massive burst the thousand left safety to venture out and find their place in this strange world.

They all have homes now.

It is peaceful, our community is gathered close.

The thousand became billions and the world’s borders expanded; this world became the old.

The wildlife becomes extremely vicious.

Just as the pandemic ensued, the world became flames.

And once again our universe is turned to ashes.
