Thinking About Death

Thinking About Death

A Poem by Max Whipple III
"

Death.

"

I get

what I deserve

no one is given

anything

from us

everything is taken

youth, purity, love

life

the mirage of acquisition

is stripped away

in the end

our family

gets our possessions

we lose our family

the memories of life

fade away as we live

and upon our death

remembered once more

before they are also

taken
