Coming Back to Life

Coming Back to Life

A Poem by Mae Taylor

Waking up from a sleepless dream.

never closed eyes, opening now.

Feeling my footsteps, when I couldn't before.

slowly trickle back, the emotions that ebbed down

no longer alone, now engulfed by life

sharper the images appear, the color revived

eyes glow bright, hopes renewed

the dark days of depression now left to burn

the nightmare is over, time to make it your own

happiness again takes its turn.

even though it takes time to walk alone.

Suddenly, colors come like in-bounding fall

Everything is bright and I suddenly see,

the amazing life I have before me.

Never forgotten are the past endeavors

they strengthen me, no longer afraid.

Promising is the future I turn to ahead

I will persist, though challenging it may be

Never alone my friends here with me.

I am a Selfist and strongly believe in our ability to maintain and control every second of ourselves and our existence. Your work demonstrates that thought and I hope it reflected a true moment of experience. That is how we grow and achieve and as you're doing all that, you are producing memorable poetry that I truly enjoyed.

No one says that we must walk alone forever and one must hope for the nightmares to end in order to make way for new happiness, a new start. It feels strange ending a nightmare and having to deal with reality, though reality may seem as if we are stuck in that nightmare. Fear is never easy to overcome, but it is possible. It all takes time. I also love the title and description of emotions you put into this. Wonderful piece!
