Fade & Sustain

Fade & Sustain

A Poem by Maynard Winter
"

A passive-aggressive poem written in the fall of 2007

"
You don't need to know
I don't want to bother you
What you said was wrong
But you won't hear it from me

This anger is only temporary
No one has to know
I can control my voice and tone
you'll still see me smile

I don't need what's rightfully mine
You don't need to see that I'm bothered
My stonewall stance hides my shattered desire
I won't be claiming what's mine

There's no argument from me
I can take the emotional hit
Another smile shows that I'm fine
I can hold it all in

This is a really amazing piece. I love every word of it. I don't, however, think the prose form is right for this piece. I would like to see it in stanzas and line, though. Do it's a great piece nonetheless.
